The IOPO's Statement of Support for Professional Organisers working with NDIS Participants
The IOPO Advisory Board is dedicated to securing the recognition our industry deserves, and we're proud of the progress we're making together. In 2024 we made headway in successfully achieving a classification code within the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA), and on 20th January 2025 we released our industry’s NDIS Statement of Support.
As the leading body representing Professional Organisers across Australasia, we are committed to advancing the industry through education, advocacy and the establishment of professional standards. The IOPO works to ensure that Professional Organisers are recognised for the invaluable services they provide to individuals, particularly those under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Professional Organisers play a crucial role in enhancing the independence, functionality and overall wellbeing of NDIS participants by empowering them to manage their environments across multiple domains of functional capacity. However, we have received consistent feedback from our members about the challenges they face when seeking funding approval and payment for services provided under the NDIS.
We aim to ensure that Professional Organisers are fairly compensated for their work with NDIS participants, while also upholding the highest industry standards and ethical practices.
We encourage all Professional Organisers to use this document, or relevant sections of it, to build their case when working with Plan Managers and Support Coordinators. The collective expertise of the IOPO Advisory Board, along with valuable feedback from our members, has shaped this statement to ensure it best represents the needs of our industry.
